Wil Wheaton

Wil Wheaton accomplishes something in his new book, Dancing Barefoot, that is genuinely astonishing. He weaves true life tales that are both geeky and emotional at the same time.1

Now an author and famous denizen of the Internet, Wil Wheaton is still known to most people as Wesley Crusher, a much-maligned teen character on TV’s Star Trek: The Next Generation. Wheaton began his acting career in childhood, and by the mid-1980s had appeared in several small roles on television and in feature films.2

Between 2001 and fall 2004, Wil operated a message board, known as “The Soapbox” or “Paracosm”, as part of the blog site. Rather than just a fan forum, it was a place where people could gather to talk about various subjects including movies, music, books, religion, politics, gaming, geocaching, and miscellaneous topics; the original emphasis was on topics of interest to Wil Wheaton and not the man himself.3

Then there is the character that seems to get taken on by the entire viewing audience - one that is universally hated to such a degree that if you don’t bash them, there must be something wrong with you. One man who can speak to this is Wil Wheaton, who played the oft-flamed Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation.4

I?ve mentioned before that I?m a fan of Wil Wheaton, former Star Trek: The Next Generation actor and up-and-coming writer. His blog is great and his books, which expand further on thoughts initially shared in his blog, make for a great read.5
