Two Face

Pictures allegedly has revealed the new trailer of the highly anticipated superhero flick “The Dark Knight” earlier than its schedule at the New York Comic Con on April 19. Through the earlier screening, it is revealed that the trailer exposes Batman’s friend-turned-archenemy, Harvey ‘Two Face’ Dent.1

Two-Face appears, by all accounts, to be non-religious in the traditional sense of the word. He has never identified himself as an adherent (or even former adherent) of any organized religious denomination.2

CHUD’s Jeremy Smith has the story on the unique approach Nolan is taking with the character. For every Two-Face scene, Nolan shot Eckhart twice — once in make-up and once without.3

Bob Kane was inspired by a movie poster advertising the Spencer Tracy film Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and conceived the idea of a villain with a dual personality. After a criminal disfigured half of his face with acid, Dent became the insane crime boss Two-Face who would choose to do either good or evil depending upon the results of flipping a coin ?4

There are a lot of different ways that you could go with the Two-Face performance, though. In the cartoons he is kind of a cold-hearted gangster and Tommy Lee Jones played him as a straight-up madman.5

For fans of the comic franchise behind the movies, many will be aware of the importance of the character Harvey Dent. It was not just a case of casting a dull district attorney, but rather a named actor that could hold down the rather prodigious roll of not just a lawyer, but also one of Batman?s most infamous villains: Two Face.6
