The Incredibles 2

Brad Bird was at Comic-Con promoting The Incredibles along with one of the producers and a moderator. Brad Bird was fun to listen to as he riffed on the transition from going from the 2-D animation world to Pixar’s version of 3-D animation.1

That hasn?t stopped anyone from asking about an Incredibles 2 though, and this week Ain?t It Cool New?s Quint (who seems to be the only person actually working over there these days) had the chance to quiz Incredibles director Brad Bird. When asked about Incredibles 2, he had this to say: ?I think the key there is having an idea that goes somewhere new.2

Released March 15, 2005, The Incredibles 2-Disc Collector’s Edition is highly recommended for not only superhero fans and DVD buffs, but everyone! It’s an all-ages, intelligent and entertaining movie.3

John Lasseter is best known for directing and producing animated films, including Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Cars, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and the upcoming WALL-E, set to be released June 27. But his back story is rooted in California, living a half-hour from Disneyland.4

This overview of the production helps establish that The Incredibles was Pixar’s most ambitious endeavour to date, complete with statistics: Finding Nemo, for instance, utilized 22 different “sets,” as compared to The Incredibles’ 130. Heated debates between Pixar staffers and between Bird and producer John Walker are aired like dirty laundry, probably because they were never about ego.5
