Sharks Game

The Dallas Stars made their way over the HP Pavillion for game one of the 2008 Stanley Cup semifinals against the San Jose Sharks. It was quite an exciting (and close!) game as it was decided by an overtime goal scored by Stars left wing, Brendan Morrow.1

Tim Murray will be on hand in person as the first 3,000 fans will receive a Tim Murray Bobblehead Doll. The Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts will mingle with Sharks season ticket holders before the Sharks game during the Boston Bruins Alumni game at 1:45pm.2

At a game, the stands and players are predominantly white, but once you hit the streets, you would think that all the season ticket holders were young people of color. It’s a common sight on the Eastside and downtown to see homies all G’d up in San Jose Sharks gear — sweaters, hats, jerseys — representing the “Sharksteros” to the fullest.3

On Thursday the NHL Network in Canada is gonna broadcast either the Kings/Ducks game or the Blues/Sharks game, based on fan voting. So far the Blues/Sharks game is winning 53% to 47%.4

Not in the box score: The Sharks were noticeably more physical in Game 2. Forward Jonathan Cheechoo had talked at the morning skate about the importance of finishing checks, and San Jose did. Ryane Clowe hit Mike Modano along the boards early in the game, and Craig Rivet later tangled with Steve Ott.5

It will be SOMA night as the Sharks play host to the Manchester Monarchs. SOMA will be featured through out the game and the Sharks will be wearing a commemorative game jersey to celebrate the night.6
