Prince Caspian
Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia is a novel for children by C. S. Lewis, first published in 1951. It is the second book in the Chronicles of Narnia series, though in the overall chronological sequence it comes fourth.1
“Prince Caspian” finds the Pevensie siblings pulled back into the land of Narnia, where a thousand years have passed since they left. The children are once again enlisted to join the colorful creatures of Narnia in combating an evil villain who prevents the rightful Prince from ruling the land.2
Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy. The four children will soon meet a curious new character: Narnia’s rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding, as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him in order to place his own newborn son on the throne.3
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is co-written and directed by Andrew Adamson, who directed the first Chronicles of Narnia as well as Shrek and Shrek 2. The movie is based on the second book in C.S. Prince Caspian arrives in theaters everywhere on May 16th!4
Lewis’s protagonists are not just fallible, they are often very fallible. In the book version of Prince Caspian, after making mistakes, Trumpkin apologizes to the four children, Peter apologizes to his siblings and to Trumpkin, Lucy apologizes to Aslan, Susan apologizes to Lucy, and Peter apologizes to Aslan.5
