Phi Kappa Theta

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:03 pm

Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity is the result of a merger of its parent fraternities: Phi Kappa founded at Brown University in 1889, and Theta Kappa Phi Fraternity, which is founded at Lehigh University in 1919. These two fraternities merged in 1959 to form the united fraternity of Phi Kappa Theta, the only true merger of competing national fraternities in the history of Greek Life.1

An active Chapter of Phi Kappa Theta and its two predecessors, Phi Kappa and Theta Kappa Phi, existed from 1912 to 1997 on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. This Web site has been organized by alumni members of the Beta Delta Chapter to encourage communication among Fraternity members.2

One of Phi Kappa Theta?s more prominent alumni?s, he was married to Jacqueline Kennedy and became the thirty-fifth President of the United States. In 1960 he became the youngest person ever to be elected as President of the United States, and the second youngest, after Theodore Roosevelt, to serve.3

The pursuit of education means a love of learning, the acquisition of skills for one’s future and the search for truth, knowledge and freedom. These can be found formally at universities or colleges, and informally in Phi Kappa Theta.4

In 1921, Phi Kappa sought to merge with a newly formed Theta Kappa Phi. But the latter house instead joined with Kappa Theta at Penn State in 1922, when it went national for the first time.5

Financial support is another way in which you can greatly impact your undergraduate brothers. Your financial assistance is very necessary to the continued success of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.6
