Paul Begala
Paul Begala (born May 12, 1961) is a political consultant, a commentator, and a former advisor to President Bill Clinton. He gained national prominence as half of the political consulting team “Carville and Begala”.1
Viewers of this Tuesday’s Today expecting a balanced panel discussing Bill Clinton’s outburst at Fox News were greeted with James Carville debating Paul Begala. Meredith Vieira, for the most part, sat back as Carville and Begala pumped up Clinton, rallied the Democratic base and attacked everything from the administration’s war on terror to Condoleezza Rice, to Fox News.2
MoveOn’s General Betrayus ad was one of the more recent examples of their “scummy” challenges to the President and his policies. Harry Reid calling the President “a loser” to a civics class is another. But these examples were bottomed out recently by prominent Democrat, Paul Begala, on CNN, who responded to a Wolf Blitzer question about the election by saying that in some states President Bush polls lower than venereal diseases.3
Need to add superdelegate Donna Brazile to the list. True, she lovingly put her foot in Paul Begala’s a** yesterday as he dismissed the African American voting bloc’s value to the Democratic Party, but it’s not enough.4
CNN Political Commentator Paul Begala writes on Huffington Post today about yesterday’s whirlwind day of denying the story he was jumping ship from CNN to join the Sen. Hillary Clinton campaign. Yesterday Fox News’ Major Garrett reported a story that was picked up elsewhere, claiming that Begala and CNN’s James Carville were joining the Clinton campaign as advisers.5
