Operation Sudden Fall
In May of 2007, an SDSU student was found dead of a drug overdose in her bedroom. As a result, SDSU police began an undercover investigation known as “Operation Sudden Fall.” Undercover officers determined students and non-student were heavily involved in selling drugs for profit, on and off campus.1
The investigation - dubbed Operation Sudden Fall - was launched a year ago by campus police and targeted people suspected of selling illegal drugs to SDSU students, Browning said. About five months ago, federal drug agents joined the probe.2
The undercover investigation, dubbed “Operation Sudden Fall,” involved agents of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the District Attorney’s Office and SDSU campus police, officials said. It began after Shirley Jennifer Poliakoff, a 19-year-old SDSU student, died of a drug overdose in May 2007.3
Officials say the evidence seized as part of Operation Sudden Fall includes four pounds of cocaine, 50 pounds of marijuana and 350 ecstasy pills. Authorities also confiscated a shotgun, three semiautomatic pistols and $60,000.4
