Nona Dirksmeyer (picture below) is a young, vivacious, and beautiful coed at Arkansas Tech who is murdered in 2005 by her boyfriend Kevin Jones. In the picture you see the bright smile of Nona and you have to wonder how sick Kevin Jones had to be to murder her.¹

After eight hours of deliberation, Thursday, a jury decided Kevin Jones did not kill his girlfriend Nona Dirksmeyer. Dirksmeyer was found dead in her Russellville apartment on December 15, 2005.²

Russellville - Police say a former Miss Arkansas contestant found dead last week was murdered. The announcement comes four days after the body of 19-year-old Nona Dirksmeyer was discovered inside her Russellville apartment.³

Nineteen-year-old Nona Dirksmeyer was found dead December 15th, 2005, in her apartment by her boyfriend, Kevin Jones of Dover, Jones’ mother, and a friend of Jones. The prosecution says Dirksmeyer was choked and beaten, stabbed and slashed with a knife, and her skull was fractured with the base of a floor lamp.⁴

On a cold night, in December 2005, the little community of Russellville Arkansas lost one of it’s brightest stars. Nona Dirksmeyer age 19 and a student at the local college, Arkansas Tech University, was found murdered in her off campus apartment.⁵

Though Kevin Jones was one of two people besides Nona Dirksmeyer with a key to her apartment, he forgot it that night. With Whiteside’s assistance, Jones forced open a sliding glass door at the rear of the residence.⁶

Friday morning an arrest warrant was issued for the same man at the other end of the line. Nona Dirksmeyer’s high school sweetheart, Kevin Jones was charged with 1st degree murder.⁷
