Ncaa Volleyball

NCAA Volleyball tickets are now available for sale or purchase. You can get these tickets right here for games that include the National Championship Tournament and other tournaments that include popular teams like UCLA, Pepperdine, Long Beach State and the University of the Pacific.1

For the first time in the history of the tournament, the 2009 NCAA Women?s Volleyball Championship is headed to the Sunshine State. The Tampa Bay Sports Commission in partnership with the St. Pete Times Forum, the Tampa Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the University of South Florida, will host event (semifinals and finals) to crown the national champion December 17-19, 2009.2

Amherst suffered a 3-0 setback to Juniata on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2007 NCAA Volleyball Tournament, bringing the Jeffs season to an end in the process. The Eagles came away with wins of 30-8, 30-22, 30-21.3

Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) registered a team-high 13 kills while Sr. Katie Benick (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) added 11 kills, but the 24th-ranked Vulcans dropped a 3-0 decision to 2nd-ranked Concordia-St. Paul in the quarterfinal round of the 2007 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Tournament.4

The first NCAA women’s volleyball championship was held in 1981 for divisions 1, 2 and 3. Volleyball was the third sport in which championships were held. The first two were field hockey and cross-country.5

The NCAA allows each division 1 Volleyball program 4.5 scholarships for Men and 12 for women. In division 2 the ratio is 4.5 for men and 8 for women.6
