Ncaa Academic Progress Report

BATON ROUGE– All except two of LSU’s 20 varsity sports recorded non-penalty scores in the annual report of Academic Progress Rates (APR) released Tuesday by the NCAA and only one LSU sport has incurred a penalty. The ratings released this week by the NCAA are part of the NCAA’s continuing academic reform efforts.1

The list of Bowl Championship Series schools and teams that appeared on the NCAA’s academic progress report for sub-par performances in the classroom. Schools must score 925 or better to avoid sanctions.(Listed by conference, school, sport, score and sanction).2

Linked below is the NCAA’s academic progress report, in .pdf format. This report has to do with the NCAA’s suddenly serious attitude towards graduation and academic aptitude for all sports.3

This, of course, raised the ire of at least one administrator at ASU, who quickly noted that the NCAA’s Academic Progress Report (APR) cost ASU no scholarships. You guessed it: six scholarships lost in the last three years.4

The new NCAA Academic Progress Report has really kept many recruiters from signing academic risks. Once on campus, receiving financial aid, their progress toward graduation, or lack there of, can seriously impact schools.5
