Richmond International Raceway kicks off its 2008 season “under the lights” Friday night, May 2, with the NASCAR Nationwide Series 250 race. The NASCAR Nationwide Series regulars will battle it out with some NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series stars on a night of old school short track action.2

The arrival and popularity of the IRL IndyCar Series at Richmond International Raceway in 2001 has been an added bonus for race fans in the Mid-Atlantic Region. With speeds nearly 50 mph faster than their NASCAR counterparts, the IRL IndyCar Series plays host to increasing, enthusiastic crowds at Richmond.5

He could have added foresight to his list. In the mid-1990s, well before his peers recognized the mushrooming popularity of NASCAR, the Oswego native began organizing trips to races in Dover, Del., and Richmond, Va., that proved highly successful.6
