On Sunday, May 4, the Long Island Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10K races take place. The weekend celebration also includes a pasta party for runners on May 2, at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, while a “Runners’ Expo” will be held at Mitchel Athletic Complex on May 1 - 3.2

Men’s marathon winner Harold Sanon (2:33:38) had never raced 26.2 miles before. A native of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he came to Long Island to run his first marathon, at the suggestion of his coach, Ralph Kenizan.3

The Long Island Marathon is one of the oldest and best established marathons in the United States. Currently, the Reckson Long Island Marathon / Half Marathon is the 15th largest half marathon and 75th largest race in the USA!4

Participants of the 2008 Long Island Marathon, half Marathon, or 10K race can not switch races on race day. Each race will use different colored numbers; signage and course officials will direct participants to their proper split points.5

Main Event “Carbohydration” Pasta Party tickets are only available to marathon participants and friends or family members thereof. Friends and family tickets must be purchased by a registered participant of the 2007 Long Island Marathon, Half Marathon or 10K Race.6
