XL Recommended - Langhorne Slim: Speaking of folk, this 27-year-old folk rocker has ended up on the otherwise fairly metal label Kemado. It’s soulful stuff; he’s the one in the fedora.2

Turns out ‘Langhorne Slim’ is the adopted moniker of one Sean Scolnick, a 27-year-old lifelong musician from - yep - Langhorne, PA. After cutting his teeth touring with the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, Slim assembled his band, The War Eagles, and put out an EP on V2 before that label folded.3

The four-song teaser release of Engine, offers but a glimpse of Langhorne Slim’s range. Produced by Brian Deck (Fruit Bats, Modest Mouse, Iron amp; Wine, Josh Ritter) at Chicago’s Engine Studios, Langhorne Slim, with his pork-pie hat atop his head, joined by his band the War Eagles, is ready to shake you with his brand Americana and alt/punk sound.4

Slim grew up in Langhorne, PA, and went to a “hippie school” after being kicked out of the public one. “It’s a great place when it’s working for you and your life is ordered,” says Slim, a SUNY-Purchase graduate.5
