Herculoids
One of these places was Quasar, a world off the beaten path that was regularly defended by a mish-mash of wondrous creatures and single family. A group with the stellar signature of The Herculoids!1
Shown originally as two ten minute episodes each week, the original run lasted for thirty six episodes. The Herculoids later returned with eleven new shows in 1981, as part of The Space Stars.2
How many of you growing up remember a show called The Herculoids? They were about 10 minute long animated cartoons that featured a family of three (Zandor, Tarra and their?son, Dorno).3
“The Herculoids” bring back fond memories of Saturday morning TV in the ’60s. One of Hanna-Barbera’s best action ‘toons The orignals from 1967 still hold up well today.4
The Herculoids still turn up from time to time on Cartoon Network or Boomerang, its offshoot that specializes in older cartoons. But new episodes haven’t been made in decades, nor are any expected in the near future.5
Many fans are awaiting the DVD release of The HerculoidsI am absolutely certain that it would be both beneficial to the fans as well as to the Warner Bros. This would give many adult people a chance to reconnect with their memories as a child once more.6
The Herculoids are a three person Human family, a six legged Rhino-Triceratops, A giant stone ape, a flying dragon and two amorphous, pudding-like creatures that fight to protect their planet from an unending stream of alien invaders, monsters,wierd beings and robots bent on domination and destruction. Of course they always win and it is wonderful fun for children and adults.7
