Barramundi

Barramundi - A flash Lower East Side workhorse, Barramundi has been around forever and there’s a reason. Good drinks at a reasonable price served in a pleasant atmosphere.1

They lurk under lily pads and anglers coax them out of the weeds with garden-variety bass lures. But you won’t see a traditional U.S.-style bass boat stalking Australia’s celebrated barramundi.2

This pattern package gives crochet instructions for a Barramundi Fish square in 2 sizes. The fins and tail give a textured effect and the goggle eyes are optional.3

It might surprise diners to learn the barramundi on their plates weren’t hauled in by any fishermen. They’re actually raised in huge tanks on a fish farm in Turner Falls, Mass.—about 100 miles west of Boston—owned by a publicly traded Australian company called Australis Aquaculture.4

As a table fish the Barramundi is said to have no equal and this is certainly true of fish caught in relatively clean estuarine waters. These fish usually have delicious, firm, fine-grained white meat however fish that have spent time in muddy, brackish type water can either have quite tasty meat or something that borders on being inedible.5

Currently, there is only one commercial U.S. barramundi farm, located in Western Massachusetts. This facility purifies and recycles 99 percent of its water, and has almost no discharge of solids or nutrients leaving the farm.6

The DVD is purely about how to catch wild barramundi, with an emphasis on the Northern Territory. There are 16 chapters with an easy menu - you will learn about barramundi habits, where they live, how to fish northern rivers, wet season fishing, rig tying, barra lures and more.7
